Risa Notes (2).png

Risa Friedman is a multidisciplinary artist, with a focus on photography, paper arts and installation. Her work celebrates the beauty of place with an emphasis on people-made details and blocks of color. She grew up in suburban New York, but draws most of her inspiration from her time spent living in cities and watching them change—New York, Brighton (UK), Quito (Ecuador) and currently Denver.  Risa’s background and career in the social sciences (sociology and public health) also inform her approach to art. One of her favorite parts of her process is people: she loves collaborating with other artists and meeting people who live and work in the spaces she photographs.

One of Risa’s collaborative projects is We Were Wild: a partnership with artist, Meredith Feniak, in which the two experiment with a range of mediums (photography prints, textiles, stencils, etc.) to create indoor and outdoor murals and installations. Risa also curates art shows and organizes art-based fundraisers.

Risa has been highlighted as a Colorado Creative in Denver’s Westword. She’s also been featured in Create! Magazine, 5280, 303 Magazine, the Denver Post, UrbanLifeWashPark, and Colorado Homes and Lifestyles.

Risa lives with three dudes and 47 plants.
